Eagan at Eastview
7 p.m., Thursday, May 8

These longtime rivals and South Suburban Conference neighbors aren’t quite playing at their ridiculously high standards, but they will no doubt be in top form for this always highly charged meeting. Eagan was ranked No. 1 in the state a few weeks ago, then plummeted all the way to No. 10 after suffering back-to-back losses to Apple Valley and Rosemount. The 16-3 loss to the Irish was particularly alarming, but the Wildcats rebounded last week with a 19-9 triumph over Bloomington Kennedy. Cam Torres and Kevin Sturgeon share the team lead with 13 goals, and Max Elsenheimer has 12. Eastview, a five-time state tournament participant, started the season 0-3 but has since won three straight, including Saturday’s 7-5 triumph over Minnetonka.
