Prior Lake at Edina
7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 17

Prior Lake was cruising along with a perfect 7-0 record before falling to Bloomington Jefferson 7-6 on May 6. The Lakers rebounded by crushing Bloomington Jefferson 15-4 last Friday and now face a killer week that includes matchups against two talented South Suburban teams (Burnsville on Tuesday and Eastview on Thursday) before finishing the week with this road game at Edina. Prior Lake has a strong candidate for the Mr. Goalie award (given annually to the state’s top senior goaltender) in Aaron Wiederhoeft (.610 save percentage, 6.57 goals-against average). Sophomore Ben Ward leads the Lakers with 17 goals. Don’t be deceived by Edina’s 3-4 record. All of the Hornets’ losses have come against top-10 teams (Eden Prairie twice, Bloomington Jefferson and Holy Angels). This is another chance for Edina to prove it belongs in the state’s top tier. Senior Ted Goltzman leads the Hornets with 15 goals, and sophomore John Marple has 12.
