Blake at Holy Angels
7:30 p.m., Friday, May 16

MN Lax Hub Spotlight Game

Season-ending injuries to Gus Austin and Moss Shannon have forced Blake to shift the scoring load, and sophomore Connor McDonough, with a team-best 17 goals through Blake’s first seven games, has emerged as the Bears’ go-to guy. Bryan Kennedy had 10 goals, and no other player was in double digits before Saturday’s blowout victory over Hopkins. Tight defense and the stellar goaltending of Nick Washuta (.626 save percentage, 6.14 goals-against average) have been Blake’s strength. Holy Angels won its first six games before falling from the state’s last unbeaten teams last Friday with a 13-7 loss to Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Sam Turner led the Stars in scoring through their first six games with 19 goals, and Scott McNamara had 14. Five Holy Angels’ players have reached double digits in scoring, a testament to the Stars’ depth.
