Orono at Bloomington Jefferson
6 p.m., Thursday, May 22

Orono went 3-2 during a sluggish start to the season, but the Spartans have been rolling for the better part of a month. They have won five straight and are facing an incredibly tough week, starting with defending state champion Eden Prairie on Tuesday and then completing the regular season Thursday at No. 5 Bloomington Jefferson. Senior Chandler Sampson has a team-high 29 goals, and super sophomore Blake Leischow has 26 goals and 21 assists for a team-best 47 points. The Jaguars had lost three straight before beating Lakeville South last Thursday. Jefferson is not a prolific scoring team. It went through an early May stretch of six games – four of them losses where it failed to reach double digits. Sophomore Ryan Graff does the bulk of the scoring. His 24 goals easily outdistance the 15 posted by the Jaguars’ No. 2 goal scorer, senior Nolan Miles.
