Rosemount’s Conner Yepsen was named Mr. Lacrosse, and Lydia Sutton of Blake was named Ms. Lacrosse on Sunday, June 15, by the Minnesota Minute Men. 

The Mr. and Ms. Lacrosse awards are given annually to the state’s top seniors in their respective sports.

The other major awards Sunday went to Aaron Wiederhoeft of Prior Lake, who was named Mr. Goaltender, and Oralee Hespenheide of Bloomington Jefferson, who was named Ms. Goaltender.

Yepsen, a midfielder who has committed to play at Robert Morris, led Rosemount in scoring in the regular season with 42 goals and 16 assists in 12 games. He also was named the Star Tribune’s All-Metro Player of the Year.

Sutton, a midfielder who has committed to play at Southern California, scored 37 goals and added 16 assists in 11 regular season games. She also was named the Star Tribune’s All-Metro Player of the Year.

The awards are given to the two outstanding senior high school lacrosse players and two outstanding senior goaltenders in Minnesota and are selected by a panel of Minnesota lacrosse community members. 

The other Mr. Lacrosse finalists were Max Elsenheimer of Eagan, Michael Lamb of Benilde-St. Margaret’s, J.R. Riley of St. Thomas Academy, Sam Turner of Holy Angels, Charlie Venable of Eden Prairie and Carter Yepsen of Rosemount.

Sophie Buelow of Chanhassen, Sheila Hirsch of Edina, Anna Johnson of Eden Prairie, Katie Larson of Apple Valley, Ali Ridge of Minnetonka and Anne Slusser of Blake are the other Ms. Lacrosse finalists.

Max Fahey of Eden Prairie and Maddie Kohlbeck of Farmington were the other finalists for the top goaltender awards.
