Benilde-St. Margaret's at Eden Prairie

Benilde-St. Margaret’s lost its top two scorers from last season but returns a talented core that should keep the Red Knights competitive all season.

Senior midfielder Matthew Arnason (16-17-33), who was an all-conference honorable mention selection last year, and senior attackman Michael Naughtin (18-13-31) bolster an offensive attack led by sniper Thomas Luedke, a midfielder who had 27 goals as a junior. Benilde-St. Margaret's scored 157 goals in 13 games last year.

Does Eden Prairie have what it takes to win a third consecutive state title? It seems so.

The Eagles, who have been to four straight state tournaments, certainly have the experience.

They also return three potent scorers. Junior midfielder J.D. Spielmann, who was named to the US Lacrosse national high school All-America team and was an all-state first team selection as a sophomore, may be the most lethal. The Ohio State commit finished with 50 goals last year.

Sophomore attackman Nicky Leivermann (24 goals) showed great promise as a freshman, and senior attackman Sean Patterson (38 goals) adds another potent element to the Eden Prairie offense.
