Farmington at Lakeville South
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5

Winners of three consecutive games, Farmington (6-2, 3-1) finds itself tied for second place in the South Suburban Conference standings.

Senior forward Shelby Klotz (23 goals) and sophomore midfielder Ashley Steffes (13-7-20) have provided the offensive spark for the Tigers, who will need some extra scoring punch to keep pace in a league that features three of the state’s top 10 ranked teams -- including No. 4 Lakeville South.

Sophomore forward Amanda Davenport (15 goals) could provide it. She has eight goals in her last three games, including six in a 15-13 victory over Eagan on April 28. Davenport's scoring will be key in the Lakeville South matchup as the winner will have an edge in the Section 1 seeding process.

The Cougars' closest game was a 12-6 victory over Eastview, an indication of how dominant Lakeville South (8-0, 4-0) has been this season.

Senior midfielder Logan Halvorson (34-11-45) and senior forward Maddy Canney (26-15-41) have been nothing short of spectacular on offense.

If Davenport is Farmington’s rising star, then the Cougars have a similar player in junior forward Emma Schaefer (19 goals), who has 11 goals in the last four games. Schaefer, who thrives when teams overcompensate to defend against Halvorson and Canney, could be set for another big game.
