The rivalry renewed last season after over 100 years of dormancy is back again this season, albeit with both teams fielding shorthanded rosters due to graduation and transfers. 

St. Paul's leading scorer from last year, Bjorn Holm, transferred to Blake for this season, leaving the keys to the Bobcats' offense in the hands of junior attacker Peter Dadlez (9-8-17).

Minneapolis (0-1) fell to Apple Valley 12-7 to open the year.
