Mahtomedi at Prior Lake

Mahtomedi faces its toughest opponent so far this season when the No. 2 Zephyrs travel to No. 9 Prior Lake on Saturday.

Senior attackers Matt Schwartz (18-27-45) and Connor Lawless (28-4-32) lead a Mahtomedi offense that has outscored opponents 97-36.

The Lakers (5-4) could be reeling after back-to-back losses to South Suburban rivals Eastview and Lakeville North last week and have games against Farmington and Burnsville to help get back on track before the showdown with a surging Mahtomedi team.

To slow the Zephyrs (8-0), Prior Lake will need senior midfielders Matt Denman (16-16-32) and Ben Ward (19 goals) and junior attacker Carter Collins (12-13-25) to pick up the pace for offense that totaled 15 goals in the last two games.
