Eagan at Lakeville South
5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 12

Despite a sub-.500 record, Eagan has proven it can compete with some of the state's top teams and will have another chance when facing South Suburban Conference rival Lakeville South on Thursday.

The Wildcats have one-goal losses to No. 11 East Ridge and No. 5 Rosemount, but have been blown out by No. 3 Lakeville North and No. 9 Prior Lake.

Eagan (2-4, 2-3) boasts a deep midfield, led by Cole Powell (7-4-11), Jonathan Lee (7-4-11) and Brandon Wuertz (8-2-10).

Lakeville South has gone 2-2 since starting the season 4-0 and has dropped to fifth place in the league standings.

Senior midfielder Donavon Dempsey (10-12-22) and sophomore attacker David Byers (13-5-18) need to continue their clutch play as the No. 13 Cougars (6-2, 4-2) look for a victory and avoid being caught by the sixth-place Wildcats.
