Eden Prairie, the top-ranked team in the most recent state girls' lacrosse coaches association poll, received the No. 1 seed for the Section 2 playoffs.

The Eagles went undefeated against in-state opponents, including a 16-14 victory over No. 2-ranked Blake in the regular-season finale.

The Bears earned the No. 1 seed in Section 5, one of five ranked teams to enter the playoffs atop a postseason bracket. Third-ranked Prior Lake (Section 6), No. 4 Stillwater (Section 4) and No. 8 Champlin Park (Section 7) are top seeds, but reaching the state tournament may prove to be more difficult for some No. 1 seeds.

Section 2 is not only home to the Eagles but also No. 9-ranked Holy Family Catholic and No. 10 Minnetonka, while Section 6 is another loaded division with the Lakers, No. 5 Apple Valley and No. 7 Edina.

Sixth-ranked Breck is in Section 5 with longtime rival Blake.

The remaining top seeds for the playoffs are Lakeville South (Section 1), Cretin-Derham Hall (Section 3) and Maple Grove (Section 8).

The postseason has begun with several play-in games already in the books. Section quarterfinals are scheduled for this week, with the state tournament slated to start on June 14.
