Wolfpack’s first Division I product

Holak is a shining example of the type of athlete Wishart strives to stock his program with. Holak has been a four-sport athlete in each of his last two years at Duluth East. This year, he played soccer, basketball and ran track in addition to playing lacrosse. In the past, he has spent time on the football and Nordic ski teams.

But after his initial experiences with lacrosse, Holak realized it was the sport he wanted to put most of his time into, and not because it was easy.

“Within the first week of playing lacrosse, I just loved it right away,” Holak said. “It just stuck with me, it’s a great combination of all the sports I’ve played, and it wasn’t something I picked up right away. It was something I had to work at to get better.”

While in high school, Holak participated with summer traveling teams, such as Team Minnesota and MN Elite, to hone his skills. The teams faced good competition while playing in tournaments held in the eastern United States, long known as a lacrosse hotbed. This led Holak to attend several camps out east, and eventually, he drew interest from a handful of college coaches.
