Eagan at Minnetonka
7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25

Eagan begins the year holding the No. 1 ranking in the Class 2A coaches preseason poll, and the Wildcats get an early test in their opener against an experienced Minnetonka team looking to win its first state title since 2013.

The Skippers finished 10-5-2 after losing to Chanhassen — on penalty kicks — in the Class 2A, Section 2 semifinals and graduated only five seniors, including standout goalkeeper Katie McMillian.

However, Minnetonka returns 16 players with varsity-level experience, including JoJo Praska, Gabby Pitera and Mari Ferrer-Lugo, and is one reason why the Skippers earned the No. 4 ranking in the poll.
