Minnetonka at Eagan
7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30

Minnetonka posted three or more goals in 14 games last season, including in its final outing -- a 4-3 overtime loss to Minneapolis Washburn in the Class 2A state quarterfinals.

The return of all-state first team selection Josh Greiner (15-4-34) and second team pick Avery Weaver (10-10-30) should help the Skippers' maintain a menacing offense as they attempt to reach the state tournament for a third consecutive year.

Eagan graduated 12 seniors from last year’s team that made its first state tournament appearance since 2003. The Wildcats lost 2-1 in the quarterfinals to eventual state champion Anoka.

Alan Merrick is in his fifth year as head coach of the Wildcats program and has notched double-digit wins every year while also guiding Eagan to two South Suburban Conference titles.
