Soccer players throughout the world compete for various cups. There’s the U.S. Open Cup, the League Cup in England and of course, the World Cup.

You can add the Central Avenue Cup to the list.

The girls’ soccer varsity teams from Blaine and Spring Lake Park will battle for the inaugural Central Avenue Cup. The name owes to Hwy. 65, also known as Central Avenue, running through the north suburban communities.

The game takes place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Spring Lake Park Stadium. It’s also Youth Soccer Night for the Blaine Soccer Club so all players wearing their jerseys get in free.
