Eden Praire at Edina
7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 4

Eden Prairie and Edina have emerged as the frontrunners in the Lake Conference as both enter this week unbeaten in league play.

Denver commit Sammie Morton tallied nine goals and six assists last week, leading the top-ranked Eagles (4-0, 3-0) to a 17-2 win over No. 6 Minnetonka on Tuesday and a 20-3 decision against Benilde-St. Margaret’s two days later. Eden Prairie appears to be well-equipped to secure a third straight state title, outscoring its competition 76-10 through four games.

The No. 5 Hornets split their past two games, losing 18-11 to No. 3 Apple Valley on April 22 and rolling Wayzata 13-2 last Thursday. Edina (4-1, 3-0) is led by eighth-grade dynamo Haley Reeck, who has scored 19 goals on the year -- eight more than the team's second-leading runner.

Team defense and possession will be vital for the Hornets if they’re going to have any chance of stopping Eden Prairie’s offense.
