Final playoff brackets released

Defending champion Benilde-St. Margaret's boys, Blake girls get No. 1 seeds in Section 5

No. 2-ranked Eastview received the top seed and a first-round bye in the 15-team Section 3 playoffs.

The Lightning shared the South Suburban Conference title with Eagan, which received the No. 2 seed. Both teams has 8-1 conference records. Eastview beat Eagan in the regular season.

Apple Valley received the No. 3 seed and Lakeville North, the only team to beat Eastview this season, was seeded fourth.

All first-round games are scheduled for May 23, the quarterfinals for May 25 and the semifinals for May 30 with all games being played at the higher seed. 

The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 1 at Farmington High School. 

Section 4

Top-seeded White Bear Lake and No. 2 Mahotomedi each received first-round byes on Friday, May 18, as the 13-team Minnesota State High School League Section 4 playoff bracket was released.

White Bear Lake is the defending section champion. The Bears' only loss this season came against Mahtomedi on Tuesday.

Blaine and Totino-Grace received the No. 3 and 4 seeds. The Bengals and Eagles met in the section championship game two seasons ago, with Totino-Grace advancing to the four-team MSHSL state tournament.

First-round games will be held at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on May 22. The quarterfinals are set for 7 p.m. on May 24 and the semifinals for 7 p.m. on May 29, with all games being played at the higher seed.

The Section 4 championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 31 at Irondale High School in New Brighton. 

Section 5

Two-time defending state champion Benilde-St. Margaret's received the No. 1 seed and joins No. 2 seed St. Thomas Academy in receiving a first-round bye in the 14-team Section 5 playoffs.

Holy Angels is the No. 3 seed and Hopkins is the No. 4 seed as the first round gets underway on May 23 at the higher seed. The quarterfinals are scheduled for May 25 and the semifinals for May 29, also at the higher seed.

The section championship is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on May 31 at Edina High School.

Section 6

Lake Conference co-champions Minnetonka and Eden Praire, which split their regular season series, earned the No. 1 and 2 seeds and first-round byes in the 14-team Section 6 playoffs.

Top-seeded Minnetonka plays the winner of a first-round game between No. 8 Chaska/Chanhassen and No. 9 Holy Family Catholic, and No. 2 seed Eden Prairie plays the winner of a first-round matchup between No. 7 Orono and No. 10 Osseo/Park Center.

First-round games are scheduled for May 22, the quarterfinals for May 24 and semifinals for May 29, all at the higher seed.

The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in Plymouth.

MSHSL Girls Playoffs

No. 3-ranked Lakeville North, the South Suburban Conference champion, received the top seed in the 17-team Section 3 playoffs.

Apple Valley received the No. 2 seed and Bloomington Jefferson is the No. 3 seed. Both the Eagles and Jaguars, the defending section champion, finished with 7-2 records in the South Suburban.

Rosemount is the No. 4 seed.

First-round games are scheduled for Monday, May 21. The quarterfinals will be held on Wednesday, May 23 and the semifinals are set for Tuesday, May 29. The championship game will be held on May 31.

All games will be played at the higher seed.

Section 4

No. 6-ranked Stillwater, which shared the Suburban East Conference championshp with Cretin-Derham Hall and Roseville, received the top seed and the lone first round bye in the 15-team Section 4 playoffs.

No. 8-ranked Coon Rapids, which shared the Northwest Suburban Conference championship with Champlin Park and Robbinsdale Armstrong, received the No. 2 seed.

Mahtomedi received the No. 3 seed and Champlin Park was seeded fourth.

First-round games are scheduled for Monday, May 21, the quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23 and the semifinals for Tuesday, May 29, all at the higher seeds.

The championship game will be played on Thursday, May 31, at Osseo High School.

Section 5

Two-time defending state champion Blake received the top seed and a first-round bye in the Section 5 playoffs.

The Bears open play in the quarterfinals on Friday, May 25 against the winner of a first-round game between No. 8 seed Holy Angels and No. 9 seed Minneapolis.

All first-round games are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23 at the higher seed.

Edina received the No. 2 seed, Cretin-Derham Hall is seeded No. 3 and Roseville No. 4.

The quarterfinals are set for May 25 and the semifinals for May 29 at the higher seed. The championship game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on May 31 at Edina High School.

Section 6

Lake Conference champion Eden Prairie, the state runner-up to Blake the past two seasons, received the top seed and a first-round bye in the 15-team Section 6 playoffs.

The unbeaten Eagles open play at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, against the winner of a first-round game between Chaska/Chanhassen and Maple Grove.

Robbinsdale Armstrong received the No. 2 seed, Minnetonka the No. 3 seed and Holy Family Catholic the No. 4 seed.

All first-round games are scheduled for Tuesday, May 22. The section quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, May 24 and the semifinals on Tuesday, May 29. All games, with the exception of the championship, will be hosted by the higher seeded team.

The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in Plymouth.
