Sophomore Lydia Sutton scored five goals to power the two-time defending state champion Blake girls past Edina 13-10 on Thursday, May 31, in the Section 5 championship game at the Edina Community Center.

In a rematch of last year’s section title game, No. 4-ranked Edina used a late rally, capped by a goal from Natalie Rauchle with just more than 3 minutes remaining, to close to within 3. The Hornets could get no closer than the final score, although they did drill a shot off the goalpost with just more than a minute remaining.

Anne Slusser, Jordan Chancellor, Meghan Bauer and Nicole Kozlak each added two goals and Bailey Dunning stopped 10 shots for the Bears.

Sheila Hirsch scored five goals and Rauchle and Madeline Rodriguez had two each for Edina.
