The St. John's University lacrosse team is saddened by and mourning the sudden loss of Adam Gott, a member of the Class of 2015, who passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012.

Gott came to St. John's after graduating from Hill-Murray School in Maplewood. He was an attackman for the Johnnies.

No funeral plans have been announced.
UPDATE:  The funeral and wake dates have been set. The wake will be held at St. Michael's Church in Stillwater, Minn. from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday, July 8. The funeral and mass are on Monday, July 9, also at St. Michael's Church in Stillwater with the mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the burial will follow. All are welcome to join in the celebration of Adam's life and impact he has left on those that knew him. Please continue your prayers and Divine Mercy Chaplets for the Gott family.

Statement from St. John's University coach Derek Daehn: "This will shake our community, but we must come together to do whatever we can to support both Adam's family and friends. Adam was a great member of and influence on our program. He had a sense of confidence and worked hard. He pushed for playing time as a freshman and had a great future ahead of him. I saw him on Thursday playing for his summer league team, and I am so grateful to have had recent contact with him and see him doing something that he loved."

Statement from Hill-Murray coach Greg Visich: "Adam was an amazing young man and it was our honor to have been a part of his life. We will miss his quick wit, contagious smile and generous heart. Our family is better for having known him and we will forever be missing a piece of our heart."

Joint statement from Jake Helmer and Michael King, officers and captains of the St. John’s lacrosse team: "Adam was a fantastic athlete and a natural scorer, with perhaps the highest career shooting percentage SJU has ever seen. Off the field, Adam was an even greater person. His smile and fun-loving attitude brought happiness to those he encountered and made his friendship contagious. Our hearts go out to his family and friends who are devastated by this tragedy. This Johnnie lacrosse season will be dedicated to Adam, beginning with the retirement of the #2. He will be missed immensely.”
