Lydia Sutton, a 44-goal scorer on the Blake team that won its third straight state girls championship in early June, is competing on one of two Team Canada squads in the North America Challenge Cup in Oshawa, Ontario, today through July 15.

Sutton, entering her junior year at Blake, attended a Team Canada evaluation camp in early June and was one of 36 players selected to compete in the North American Challenge Cup.

Sutton was born in the Toronto suburb of Oakville, Ontario, and moved with her family to Minnesota when she was 2. Both of Sutton’s parents are U.S. citizens, and she has maintained her dual citizenship with Canada and the U.S.

The North American Challenge Cup will help determine the 18-player Canada roster for the 2013 World Cup.
