Blake junior Lydia Sutton, who competed for Team Canada at the Stars and Stripes tournament on Oct. 3-7 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., has committed to play for the University of Southern California.
Sutton, who scored 44 goals last spring while helping the Bears win their third straight state girls’ lacrosse title, was the youngest member of Team Canada to participate in the event.
Sutton was born in the Toronto suburb of Oakville, Ontario, and moved with her family to Minnesota when she was 2. Both of Sutton’s parents are U.S. citizens, and she has maintained her dual citizenship with Canada and the U.S. Canada, which had 24 players compete in the Stars and Stripes tournament, will reduce its roster to 18 for the Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in July in Oshawa, Ontario.
USC head coach Lindsey Munday and Trojans assistant Devon Wills played for Team USA -- and against Sutton -- during the Stars and Stripes event.
