Hastings senior Andrew Cordell is an attacker/midfielder

Hastings senior Andrew Cordell is an attacker/midfielder on the boys’ lacrosse team. He is hoping to help the Raiders to a better season than in 2012, when they finished 4-13-0.

The best movie I’ve seen in the past year: There’s too many, but I think overall my favorite one was “Sinister.” I love scary movies more than any other kind.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are … “Prayer” by Kid Cudi; “Sexy Back” by Justin Timberlake; “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe you? Glamorous; motivated; admirable.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … like a champ. I felt pretty cool being a sophomore on varsity. I don’t think it’s a big deal anymore.

What did you work on most prior to the season? I’ve mainly just been working out to get ready for the upcoming season, mostly running. I’m not the “get big” kind of guy, so I mainly just run and work on speed.

What are your goals for the upcoming season? We had a rough season last year, so I hope we will be able to put in more effort and win so more games this year. I don’t think I have very many personal goals, but I hope that I can help bring my team to the section finals, and hopefully farther.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? The most memorable is our game against White Bear Lake in 2011. I was a sophomore at the time, and it was my first year playing at the varsity level. The reason this was so memorable was because the game went into triple overtime, and at the very end of the third overtime we ended up getting scored on and losing. It may be a negative memory, but I will never forget it.
