MSHSL girls state pairings set

No. 1-ranked Eden Prairie and three-time defending champion Blake get top seeds

Top-ranked Eden Prairie received the No. 1 seed and three-time defending state champion Blake was seeded second as the pairings for the MSHSL girls' state tournament were released Friday morning.

Eden Prairie (15-1) beat Blake (13-3) during the regular season but have lost to the Bears in the last three state title games.

Eden Prairie plays unseeded Champlin Park (9-5) in a 5 p.m. quarterfinal at Chanhassen High School on Tuesday, June 11. Blake plays unseeded Robbinsdale Armstrong (14-1) at 3 p.m. at Chanhassen High School.

Tuesday's other quarterfinal matchups at Chanhassen high are No. 3-seed Stillwater (14-2) against unseeded Elk River/Rogers/Zimmerman (13-3) at 1 p.m. and No. 4 Lakeville North (12-4) against No. 5 Burnsville (14-1) at 7 p.m.

Seeds were determined by a vote of the eight state tournament coaches. Only the top five teams are seeded. The positioning of the remaining three are set by a random draw.

The state tournament semifinals will be played at 5 and 7 p.m. on June 13 at Chaska High School. The state championship game is set for 5 p.m. on June 15 at Chanhassen High School.

Boys' State Tournament Pairings Released Thursday

Undefeated and No. 1-ranked Eden Prairie received the top seed for the MSHSL boys' state tournament set to begin on Tuesday, June 11, at Chaska High School.

The 15-0 Eagles, runner-up to Eastview at last year's state tournament, open play with a 7 p.m. game against unseeded Rochester Mayo.

Eastview (12-3) received the No. 2 seed and plays unseeded Orono (12-3) in a 3 p.m. quarterfinal.

Tuesday's other quarterfinal matchups are No. 4 White Bear Lake (15-1) against No. 5 Blake (10-5) at 5 p.m. and No. 3 Champlin Park (13-2) against unseeded Totino-Grace (9-5) at 1 p.m.
