Undefeated and top-ranked Eden Prairie rolled to a 16-3 victory against Rochester Mayo Tuesday evening  in the last boys' quarterfinal lacrosse state tournament game at Chaska High School.

The Eagles (16-0) scored seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to leave no doubt. Senior attackman Brooks Armitage led his team with five goals.

A pair of three-goal runs fueled Eden Prairie’s 6-2 halftime lead. Charlie Venable scored two of the Eagles’ first three goals.

Rochester Mayo’s Ethan Moore and Wyatt Ryan countered and cut Eden Prairie’s lead to 3-2. Armitage helped increase Eden Prairie’s lead by scoring two of his three first half goals.

White Bear Lake 9, Blake 6

No. 4 seed White Bear Lake and No. 5 Blake played a back-and-forth contest one would expect from evenly matched teams until a third-quarter charge put White Bear Lake ahead to stay in a 9-6 victory.

Blake took charge early in the third quarter with goals from Quinn Ellis and Bryan Kennedy just one minute and nine seconds in. Trailing 5-4, White Bear Lake rallied to score the next five goals to build a 9-5 fourth quarter lead. Five different Bears’ players scored during the surge.

White Bear Lake held a 4-3 halftime edge. Ted Ramert scored three goals for White Bear Lake. Blake’s Ned Hartfiel scored twice.

Eastview 10, Orono 5

State tournament newcomer Orono made it interesting, holding a one-goal lead against defending champion Eastview into the second quarter. But the Lightning struck for the next seven consecutive goals in a 10-5 quarterfinal victory Tuesday at Chaska High School.

Orono’s Blake Leischow scored the lone goal in the first quarter. Eastview’s Ryan McNamara tied the game 1-1 and knotted the game again at 2-2 following Chandler Sampson’s goal.

From there, No. 2 seed Eastview went on a run Orono could not match. Eastview’s Tanner Hamill scored three goals.

Champlin Park defeats Totino-Grace

No. 3 seed Champlin Park topped Totino-Grace 12-9 in Tuesday’s first boys’ lacrosse state tournament quarterfinal game.

Trailing 11-8 to begin the fourth quarter, Totino-Grace got a goal from Alex Johnson just eight seconds into the fourth quarter. But Champlin Park’s Nick Bunde later scored his first goal of the game to build the winning 12-9 margin.

The first two quarters followed a similar pattern. Champlin Park built five-goals leads in each quarter only to see Totino-Grace battle back and cut the deficit to two goals late.

Ryan McNeil scored three of Champlin Park’s first five goals while Rebels teammate Luke Dalman added three of his own in the second quarter.

Josh Radjenovich led Totino-Grace with four first-half goals.
