April 19: Re-tooled Eastview hopes to block Bloomington Jefferson's return to power

One-time state powerhouse Bloomington Jefferson (the Jaguars won state Minnesota Boys' Scholastic Lacrosse Association championships in 2000 and 2003) restablished itself as a team to be reckoned with early last season when gave then-defending state champion Eastview all it could handle before losing 8-7.

The Jaguars went on to post a 9-4 regular season record, then reached the Section 2 championship game before losing 10-7 to eventual state champion Eden Prairie.

Bloomington Jefferson again opens its season against Eastview, but a close loss or Jaguars win in Saturday's matchup won't be nearly as much of a surprise this time around -- both teams fell somewhere in the top 10 of preseason rankings by most prognisticators.

No boys' lacrosse coach in the state has a longer tenure than Scott Cater, who is entering his 17th season, and Cater has the luxury of working with 19 players with extensive varsity experience.
