Senior midfielder Bailey Childs helped the Burnsville girls’ lacrosse program to its first state tournament appearance in 2013.
She has her sights set on finishing her prep career with back-to-back state tournament trips. The Blaze concluded its regular season with an overall record of 10-3.
Childs is Burnsville’s leading scorer, netting 37 goals. She scored five goals in three different games, including the regular-season finale.

A: My father, Alan, started up the youth program in Burnsville for my brothers, and it made me want to play, too.

A: … listen to “Lose Control” with my best friend Sam Vikstrom, and we do a dance to it that we made.
Q: What are your goals for the remainder of the lacrosse season?
A: To get to the state tournament with my team again, and make a statement while we are there.
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?
A: Beating Lakeville North 11-10 in lacrosse my junior year, because I knew that was the turning point for this program.
Q: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?
A: In girls’ lacrosse, it would be how strict the rules are. Let us play!
Q: Do you have a secret talent — and if so, what is it?
A: Photography. I have great knowledge of photography and videotaping and editing it all on Photoshop.
