The Lightning center enters her final high school season before heading to Central Michigan University in the fall. Schoonover is coming off a 30-goal season. Eastview is scheduled to open its season April 18 against Bloomington Jefferson. Here is a closer look at Schoonover:

Q The best movie you’ve seen in the last year is ...

A … “The Best of Me.”

Q Three words or phrases your friends or teammates would use to describe you are …

A … passionate, caring and outgoing.

Q Three songs you never skip on your iPod are …

A ... “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars; “I Don’t Mind” by Usher; and “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith.

Q When did you start playing lacrosse?

A I was playing hockey at the time [fifth grade], and lacrosse was slowly getting introduced in the Midwest. A bunch of my friends decided to try it out, so I did, too.

Q At your first varsity practice, you felt …

A ... nervous, but very excited and happy.

Q What is your favorite thing to eat before a game?

A A Jimmy John’s sandwich with a Gatorade and protein bar.

Q What are your goals for the upcoming season?

A Make it to the state tournament for the first time in Eastview girls’ lacrosse history. We have 11 seniors and have been playing together for such a long time, so I’m excited to see what this year will bring.

Q What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A Beating Prior Lake 10-9 my sophomore year to make it to the Section 3 championship. That was something the girls’ lacrosse team had never done, so it was really exciting.

Q If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?

A I would change it so that middle schoolers aren’t able to try out for the high school team.

Q Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why?

A The Minnesota Wild. We are a big hockey family, and I love going to the Wild games. I’m one of those loyal people to my state sports teams.
