Orono is looking for a signature victory to possibly earn a spot in the statewide rankings, and the Spartans could get one by defeating Robbinsdale Armstrong on April 30. Photo by Rick Orndorf
A year of experience is paying dividends for Robbinsdale Armstrong.
After going 7-5 last season with a roster featuring 15 seniors and 12 underclassmen, the Falcons are flying this season behind impressive performances from many of the returning players.
Nate Borowick had eight goals in six games last season, but the junior attackman already has 18 and is a key reason why Robbinsdale Armstrong is 4-0.
Orono got off to an equally hot start, winning its first four games before an 8-6 loss to Chanhassen on April 25 cooled the Spartans' run. Junior midfielder Blake Leischow has 14 goals and leads an offense that has outscored opponents 57-28.
Despite playing well, neither team has cracked the state rankings by Minnesota State High School Boys' Lacrosse Coaches Association, but a victory in our Top Game of the Week could vault the winner into the top 10.
