Our final Top Game of the Week also happens to be the perfect contest to wrap up the regular season: Blake versus Eden Prairie in a rematch of last year's state championship.
The defending state champion Bears and the Eagles have been two of the more dominant teams this season, helping both rise to the top the rankings provided by the Minnesota Girls’ Lacrosse Association.
Top-ranked Blake has only one loss, falling 8-6 to Illinois powerhouse New Trier. But the Bears are still undefeated against Minnesota teams and seem to be hitting their stride as the regular season comes to a close.
Blake (10-1) won its last three games by a staggering 50-5 score, which is no surprise considering the number of talented players featured in the Bears' lineup. Topping the list are junior midfielder Annie Lyman (35 goals, 24 assists, 59 points) and senior forward Olivia Nolan (34-19-53), who are Blake's leading scorers.
No. 2 Eden Prairie (9-1, 7-0) is equally talented with junior midfielder Sara Woodring (31-19-50), senior forward Jessica Lagerquist (37 goals) and sophomore midfielder Sammie Morton (26 goals) powering the Eagles' potent offense.
Eden Prairie is also undefeated against in-state competition, losing only to Loyola Academy (Ill.).
