Halvorson named Player of the Year

Logan Halvorson, a senior midfielder who had 61 goals in 13 regular-season games and helped Lakeville South capture the South Suburban Conference title, has been selected as the 2015 Player of the Year by the Minnesota Girls’ Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Halvorson, who has more than 200 career goals, was a Cougars captain and led Lakeville South to a 13-0 regular-season record and the No. 5 ranking in the final coaches poll of the year. The Central Michigan recruit is one of three Cougars named to the 49-member coaches association All-State list.

No. 1-ranked Blake, No. 2 Eden Prairie and No. 6 Stillwater each had four all-state players, while No. 3 Prior Lake finished with three.

Lakeville South’s Patrick Crandall and Stillwater’s Rick Reidt shared Coach of the Year honors.

Hannah Riggs of Eden Prairie was selected as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Mike Lawrow was named Official of the Year.
