Eagles score seven unanswered goals in second half en route to victory

Fourth-seeded Apple Valley scored seven unanswered goals in the second half as it knocked off No. 1 seed Eastview 14-8 on Wednesday, June 2, in a Section 3 semifinal at Eastview High.

Chris Fischer's eight-point peformance (four goals, four assists) led the Eagles, who also got four goals from Lucas Graves, who now has 15 goals in three playoff games.

Apple Valley led 7-4 at halftime but had that margin trimmed to 7-5 when Eastview, the three-time defending section champion, scored just 11 seconds into the third quarter.

From there, Apple Valley (12-4) took control with its big run.

"We are firing on all cylinders now," Apple Valley coach Ben Uzlik said. "We got 14 goals from seven different guys, that's awesome. That in addition to the fact that our defense played really well."

Eastview scoring leader Rex Sanders managed just one goal. The Lightning were led by Luke Wagner's three goals.

David Louis made 21 saves for Apple Valley.

Eastview (11-4) had defeated Apple Valley 7-5 on April 15 in the regular season meeting between the Lake Conference teams.

The Eagles (12-4) advance to play Eagan in the Section 3 championship game at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 4, at Burnsville High School.
