Gophers lacrosse club hires Cinosky as coach

U.S. national team player, Mounds View coach takes over U of M program

The University of Minnesota men’s lacrosse club has announced the hiring of Joe Cinosky as its new head coach. 

Cinosky is a defenseman for Team USA and will be competing this summer at the World Championships in Manchester, England. 

He  also plays for the Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League and the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. He was named an MLL All-Star in 2009. 

Cinosky guided Mounds View High School to a 5-7 record last season, his first with the Mustangs. He also is a program director for Lakeshore Lax. 

Cinosky played at the University of Maryland, where he was an All-American in 2008. In high school, he was a two-time New Jersey High School Defenseman of the Year, two-time All-American and led Mountain Lakes High School to a New Jersey State Championship.

Cinosky’s staff will include Minnesota Swarm assistant coach Aime Caines, who also has served as the Gophers’ offensive coordinator the past two seasons.
