April 27: The Eagles have never lost in the matchup, but the Skippers have the scoring punch to put that streak in jeopardy.

Familiar foes Eden Prairie and Minnetonka are set to square off in a Lake Conference matchup on Wednesday, but a quick check of their history shows this rivalry has been one-sided.

The Eagles have never lost to the Skippers - never. Add in the fact that Eden Prairie has also ended the Minnetonka's season in the past five Section 2 championship games, and one can see how - despite the lopsided nature - this rivalry carries plenty of significance.

But this year, the Skippers might have what it takes to end the Eagles' dominance.

Minnetonka (4-0, 2-0) sits at No. 4 in the season's initial poll provided by the Minnesota Girls' Lacrosse Coaches Association, thanks in large part to the offensive output of Savannah Bhojwani. The junior forward is among the league's top point scorers with 14 (8 goals, 6 assists).

Eden Prairie (2-0, 1-0) hasn't let up after winning last year's state title. The No. 1-ranked Eagles have rolled their first two opponents by a combined 39-7 score. Their prolific offense is headed by senior forward Sara Woodring, one of the league's best runners who already has seven goals and seven assists.

A game featuring two of the state's top teams going head-to-head is enough of a recipe for making a great Top Game. Mix in that this contest contains conference and playoff implications and that it includes plenty of intrigue due to the rivalry, and it makes for a spicy matchup worth being our entree of the week.
