Many programs are entering their first full week of competition, and Friday features a Northwest Suburban Conference rivalry between two teams that pull from the same youth organizations.

Maple Grove will travel four miles east on County Road 81 to face Osseo/Park Center, in a rematch of last year’s Section 8 championship game where the Crimson cruised to a 14-4 finish that clinched their second state tournament berth in three years.

Maple Grove fell in the consolation title game to finish the season with a 16-3 record. This season the Crimson will look to get back to the state tournament and capture their first league title.

Osseo/Park Center will try to build off an 11-4 record and its section championship appearance last season, but will need to replace six of their top eight scorers from 2016.

Both teams finished in the top half of the Northwest Suburban Conference standings last season, and Friday’s matchup could be both a launch pad for league crown as well as a preview of a repeat postseason matchup, making this game our featured Top Game of the Week.
