Three games into the 2017 season and it's the same old story for the Eden Prairie boys' lacrosse team.
After losing speedster J.D. Spielman to graduation, the Eagles have reloaded, with senior attacker Nicky Leivermann retaking control of the offense and sophomore midfielder Collin Penn coming into his own as a dynamic scoring threat.
Through three wins this season, Leivermann has recorded seven goals and 11 points for the Eagles, ranked No. 1 in the state coaches' poll, while Penn has tallied 10 goals.
Attempting to slow down an Eagle offense that's outscored opponents 36-7 thus far will be the Lakeville North (1-0) midfield core of seniors Robby Gale and Dylan Valentini.
Valentini will almost certainly be relied upon, having forced a team-leading seven ground balls for the No. 3 Panthers.
With a pair of top-three teams with conflicting styles duking it out in an early-season brawl, this is our pick for the Top Game of the Week.
