Girls' lacrosse Player of the Week revealed

Player of the Week winner

Abby SchaeferLakeville South: Schaefer recorded back-to-back seven-goal performances to lead the Cougars (3-1) to victories on April 18 and April 22. She is tied with Mankato's Shelby Lund for the state lead in goals (19).

Player of the Week candidates

Helen Nelson, Coon Rapids: The senior is off to flying start for the Cardinals (3-0). She opened the season registering 11 goals and 16 points in victories over Spring Lake Park and Andover.  

Shelby Lund, Mankato: Lund begins the week tied for the state lead in goals this season with 19. She recorded 12 total goals last week to help her team win two of three games. Lund tallied six in a win over Mound Westonka, falling one goal short of tying her season high of seven set in a victory over Rochester Mayo in the season opener.

Haley Reeck, Edina: Reeck leads the Hornets with 12 goals this season, with the eighth-grader notching five in a 16-4 victory over Lake Conference rival Hopkins on April 18.

Ashley Steffes, Farmington: Steffes was all over the field against Rochester Century on April 17, totaling four goals and four assists in the Tigers' 23-0 victory. Steffes leads Farmington (3-0) with 16 points.
