Eden Prairie boys and girls headed to state tournament

BOYS

• SECTION 6: Minnetonka made it interesting, scoring in the final minutes to pull within one goal at 8-7, but the top-seeded Eagles responded with a goal of their own, punching their ticket to the state tournament with a 9-7 victory. Eden Prairie midfielder Jake Woodring led all scorers with three goals, while attacker Matt Hugdahl added two goals and an assist.

GIRLS


• SECTION 5: Blake will be back to defend its state title after holding Edina 12-10 for the championship. With the score tied 8-8, Blake scored the next three goals to take control in the late stages. Midfielders Meghan Bauer and Lydia Sutton each scored four goals for the Bears, who will make their fifth consecutive trip to the state tournament. Attacker Paige Jones led the Hornets with six goals.

• SECTION 6: Eden Prairie scored nine second-half goals, pulling away from Minnetonka for a 19-11 triumph in the final. Senior Riley Allen scored nine goals for the Eagles, who led 10-9 at halftime. Junior teammate Christine Easton added five goals and four assists.
