FARGO - The Fargo Warriors got their feet wet Friday at Ed Clapp Park, and it wasn’t just because the grass field was soaked with rain.
The Warriors opened up their inaugural season with an 18-2 loss to Brainerd in club lacrosse in cold, rainy conditions.
“That’s pretty cool. There is only one first lacrosse team,” said Fargo co-captain Aaron Monson, who is a junior at Fargo South. “The first game is always the most exciting. Even though it was a rainy and crappy day, it was still a lot of fun.”
Fargo is competing in its first season as a member of the Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association. The Warriors have 24 players on their roster from a number of different high schools, including Fargo Davies, Fargo North, Fargo Shanley, South, Moorhead and West Fargo. The team also has one player from East Grand Forks, Minn. Those players range in age from seventh grade to juniors. Fargo has no seniors on its roster.
