Prep teams from Delano, St. Louis Park, Armstrong, Maple Grove and Grand Rapids competed both days for the ‘GR LAX SHOOTOUT’ Championship. The final came down to Delano and St. Louis Park, who had played into overtime in the morning match. Delano got off to a 7-1 lead at halftime only to see the lead reduced to 8-7 with 10 seconds to play. St. Louis Park’s desperation shot at the buzzer was blocked in front of the net to give Delano top honors in the event. The Varsity game took place Saturday afternoon, with Spring Lake Park defeating Duluth/Superior.
The weekend concluded with a Girls matchup between Grand Rapids and Duluth on Sunday afternoon. This was the Grand Rapids girls first contest, and they played extremely well against a veteran Duluth team.
