Mounds View vs.

White Bear Lake

7 p.m., Thursday, May 3

Mounds View has started slow this season, going 0-2 and failing to score in double figures in either game. However, the Mustangs have the talent to get back on track, returning their second- and third-leading scorers from last season. Senior Anna Solheim scored 23 goals last season, while sophomore Maiah Robert contributed 22 in her freshman year.

Robert typifies Mounds View's youth and opportunity to grow as the season goes forward. With only four seniors on the roster, the Mustangs will have to mature quickly if they are going to be competitive in Section 4 or Suburban East Conference play.

White Bear Lake has started this season on the front foot and returns last season's leading scorer in Ngan Dao, who has 10 goals this season. The Bears (2-1) hope their improvement on last year's 1-2 record to start the season is a trend that continues all the way to the section tournament.

White Bear Lake fell 17-15 to Mounds View in the section tournament opener a year ago, so this matchup will be an opportunity for the Bears to get some early season revenge and set a benchmark for what could come in the postseason.
