Benilde-St. Margaret's

vs. Chanhassen

7 p.m., Tuesday, May 8

Two of the state’s top programs meet in a matchup that could determine the Metro West Conference champion.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s, last year’s state runner-up, notched a 8-7 win over defending champion Eagan on April 28. The Red Knights (7-0, 2-0) boast a youthful backline featuring sophomore duo Seamus Foley and Army commit Jack Rigley. The Red Knights defense has yet to allow more than seven goals in a game this season, but will be tested against a Chanhassen attack anchored by two Division I weapons.

Duke commit Jadon Kerry (21-9-30) and Air Force prospect Cole Grindberg (25-14-39) have proven to be an insurmountable one-two punch as both runners are top 10 in the state for points. The Storm have emerged as Minnesota's team to beat after receiving the No. 1 spot in the state coaches’ poll. Chanhassen (6-0, 2-0) has wins over two top-10 opponents: No. 2 Mahtomedi (11-10 on April 21) and No. 7 Eagan (15-8 on April 19).

Last year, Chanhassen went 6-0 in league play to claim the conference crown. The Storm used a seven-goal third quarter to take a 10-7 victory over the Red Knights.
