Eden Prairie vs. Prior Lake

1 p.m., Saturday, May 19

Eden Prairie has smothered teams all season, winning by an average of 14.125 goals and never allowing a Minnesota opponent to score more than eight goals in a game. Goalie Emilie Bloyer has kept opponents out of the scoring column all season, posting a 7.15 goals-against average and collecting eight wins.

Offensively, the Eagles are equally dynamic with Brooke Lewis at the hub of the offense, leading Eden Prairie (8-1, 7-0) with 47 goals and 20 assists, which puts her at No. 2 in the state in scoring and No. 4 in assists entering this week.

While the No. 1 Eagles briefly stumbled in a 13-11 loss against Chicago-based Loyola Academy on May 5, they have rolled over Minnesota State High School League opponents and will be eager to face their toughest in-state opposition this season.

Prior Lake has not been as dominant as Eden Prairie, but the Lakers (8-0, 5-0) own a perfect record and have proven themselves to be a legitimate postseason threat with wins over No. 5 Edina (18-5 on April 21), No. 4 Blake (12-9 on April 23), No. 9 Minnetonka (10-4 on April 24) and No. 3 Apple Valley (11-10 on May 1). However, taking down the perennial state-championship favorite will be another matter entirely.

There have been a number of leaders on the offensive end for No. 2 Prior Lake this season, ranging from senior Lexi Peer’s 17 goals, to sophomore Josie Kropp’s 11 assists, to Lauren Wick’s 27 points. With such a range of offensive options, the Lakers will have a number of keys to use in attempting to unlock what has been an incredibly stingy Eden Prairie defense.
