Eden Prairie vs. Wayzata

7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 2

After opening the season with four consecutive victories, Eden Prairie's momentum slowed on Saturday with a 10-7 loss to top-ranked Minnetonka.

Eden Prairie looks to get rolling again on Thursday, when the Eagles take on Wayzata for the second time this season.

Eden Prairie cruised to a 9-2 victory over its Lake Conference counterpart on April 18, and the No. 5-ranked Eagles' strong start is due in part to contributions from players such as midfielder Will Foster. The sophomore scored four goals and added an assist in a 13-4 win over Woodbury on April 16.

Eden Prairie's roster also boasts a number of players from the Eagles' hockey team that finished the season as Class 2A runners-up, including senior goaltender Garett Smith.

Wayzata has experienced mixed results this season. The No. 9 Trojans (2-3, 1-2) recorded a 10-7 win against Lakeville North before losing consecutive games to Minnetonka and White Bear Lake.

Senior midfielder Brayden Nelson (8 goals, 2 assists) may be a key player for the Trojans as they attempt to upend the Eagles. Nelson netted both goals in Wayzata's first matchup against Eden Prairie.
