Chanhassen vs. Stillwater

7 p.m., Thursday, May 16

Stillwater is sitting at the head of the class after receiving nothing but passing marks this season.

The Ponies, however, may find it difficult to keep their perfect record intact when hosting Chanhassen on Thursday.

Stillwater has dominated in building an unblemished record, winning each game by at least seven goals while scoring at least 13.

Attackman Blake Evenson has been a big reason for Stillwater's hot start. The senior scored five times on April 23, when the Ponies (9-0, 6-0) defeated Cretin-Derham Hall 16-6.

Chanhassen has had a rough go of it this year, but a victory over Stillwater should provide some momentum for the Storm (4-5, 1-2) entering a Section 2 tournament that seems like a gauntlet with teams such as Minnetonka and Eden Prairie as possible playoff opponents.

The Storm earned a nice boost last Thursday when they defeated Wayzata 9-4. Juniors Hunter Holcomb and Cal Davis combined for six goals in the win and look to sustain that success against Stillwater.
