Benilde-St. Margaret’s vs. Prior Lake

3 p.m., Saturday, May 1

Here we go again. Prior Lake and Benilde-St. Margaret’s have met for the state championship in each of the previous two state tournaments (2018, 2019) with Prior Lake winning by two goals each time. So why not get a sneak peek at a potential third consecutive title game matchup out of the way early in the season?

Of course, there are many teams fully capable of interrupting the annual postseason meeting between the Lakers and Red Knights. Teams such as Edina, which beat Prior Lake, ranked No. 1 in the coaches' poll from April 20, in a 10-9 decision on Saturday.

Seniors Justin Simonson and Jack Smith, and sophomore Ben Mickett are among the scoring leaders for the Lakers (2-1), who have played two one-goal games and another decided by three goals.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s (3-0) has won each of its games this spring by at least eight goals. Sophomore Carsen Brandt and senior Paddy Burns are among the No. 2 Red Knights’ scoring leaders.
