Minnetonka vs.

Lakeville North

3 p.m., Saturday, May 1

Minnetonka and Lakeville North are two sometimes overlooked programs with state tournament credentials, as Minnetonka was the 2009 tourney champion and Lakeville North played for the title in 2016.

For better or worse, they also play out of the state’s two most rugged conferences, with the No. 8 Skippers hailing from the Lake Conference while the No. 4 Panthers compete in the South Suburban Conference.

Minnetonka (3-0) went 13-2 in 2019 when, as the No. 1 seed, it was stunned 6-5 by No. 4 seed Chanhassen in the Section 2 semifinals. Senior attackman Scott Streff is one of the top holdovers from that squad.

Lakeville North (2-2) was cruising along undefeated until it ran straight into South Suburban behemoths No. 5 Rosemount and top-ranked Prior Lake, losing by a combined four goals to the two teams. Tyler Winship leads the Panthers with 14 goals.
