Duluth vs. Hill-Murray

7 p.m., Friday, May 14

A scarcity of northern Minnesota-based lacrosse programs forces Duluth to make a half-dozen or so jaunts to the metro each year. While the Wolfpack sprinkle two games each against Hermantown/Proctor and Grand Rapids, the rest of the schedule is filled with Twin Cities-based opponents, all but one of which — out of four tries — Duluth has defeated this spring.

After opening the season with a 9-4 loss to White Bear Lake on April 17, the Wolfpack (5-1, 3-0) have won five straight. They open their week on Tuesday by hosting unbeaten Chisago Lakes, then head to the east metro on Thursday for their showdown against Hill-Murray. Tyler Smith has scored at least two goals in every game and leads Duluth with 17.

Junior Robbie Wong’s 20 goals paces Hill-Murray (3-3, 1-3), which lost last week to Metro East Conference leaders St. Thomas Academy (10-7 on Tuesday) and Mahtomedi (8-6 on Friday).
