Welcome to the party. Bloomington Jefferson has launched itself into the state’s top-10 rankings (the Jaguars are No. 8) by virtue of seven straight victories, including a 6-5 triumph over No. 3 Edina on May 1.
Now we get to see if the Jaguars (7-1, 2-1), led by junior Cody Ringquist’s 20 goals and senior Jake McCarthy’s superb goaltending, can knock off another giant in No. 1 Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
Seniors Paddy Burns and Matthew Dowden have each scored 16 goals for the Red Knights (5-1, 2-1), state champions in 2010 and 2011, and runner-ups in 2017, 2018, 2019.
