Duluth vs. Brainerd

2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15

Lacrosse is a fast-growing, ever-evolving game in the state’s northern region, and Duluth and Brainerd are two of several teams with seemingly unlimited potential.

Duluth (2-3, 2-0) snapped a three-game skid on Friday with a 7-3 triumph over St. Paul. That victory, in terms of excitement, couldn’t match the Wolfpack’s five-overtime 8-7 triumph over Hermantown/Proctor on April 15 to open the season. Senior Molly Bjonskaas and junior Hannah Martin are among Duluth’s top defenders.

Brainerd (2-4, 1-1), in its second season as a varsity program, has alternated losing and winning streaks under new coach Tina Nagel, who played collegiately at Jacksonville University. Breya Sawyer and Brynne Folden are two of the Warriors’ scoring leaders.
