Lakeville South was cruising along until suffering its first loss this spring, 13-9 against No. 2 Prior Lake last Thursday in a showdown of the South Suburban Conference’s top two teams. Grand Rapids/Greenway, one of northern Minnesota’s premier programs, also finished last week with a loss, 10-2 against Forest Lake on Saturday.
Expect both talent-laden teams to regroup quickly.
Lakeville South (7-1, 6-1) features one of the state’s best one-two scoring punches in sophomore Emily Moes (34 goals) and junior Lauren Sheets (30 goals), who power the No. 3 Cougars.
Caroline Ahcan (21 goals) handles the bulk of the scoring for Grand Rapids/Greenway (6-2, 5-0), which also relies heavily on the stellar goaltending of Lydia Kortekaas.
